4 Fears and Limiting Beliefs That Are Stopping You Exponentially Growing Your Business

I remember when I first hit a wall in my businesses, I felt completely stuck and knew that what was stopping me, was me.  It wasn’t a specific area such as raising investment, upgrading infrastructure or entrepreneurial overwhelm, it was my beliefs that existed at an unconscious level.  This was many moons ago, and when I understood how to clarify and release those blocks of my unconscious mind, it acted as the catalyst for business success.  As an NLP Practitioner, this is also the exact same experience that my private coaching clients receive when they understand the power of language and smash through those limiting beliefs.

Here are common 4 fears and limiting beliefs that could be stopping you grow your business.

I am not good enough

Whether you are the most self-confident person or developing a new relationship with your confidence, dealing with the limiting belief of ‘not being good enough', strong enough or worthy enough is something that comes up for everyone at some point.  It can come in the form of a surprise when a business action hasn’t gone as planned, or another way it can appear is from comparing ourselves to others.
Compensation for a feeling of simply being ‘not enough’ can manifest as over giving, and inability to receive from things such as a compliment, to love, friendship, help, acceptance.
Take time to sit down and look at all of the wonderful gifts and talents that make you unique as a human and business leader.  If you need any more reassurance on this fear, the fact that you are (i.e., that you exist) means that you are enough.

Affirmation to amend belief:
I now free myself from destructive fears and doubts.
I am enough.

I'm scared of exponentially growing my business in case I fail

Fear is one of the most common limiting beliefs that I’ve heard and often fear of failure can actually be directly linked to fear of success.

The great news is that it is your wonderful imagination that is running out of control at that moment, to allow you to be afraid of the failure and feel bad about this in anticipation.  A mistake that is made is by lumping ‘failure’ all under the same banner rather than drilling down to work out exactly what that fear of failure is.  It can shock entrepreneurs that a fear of failure as a skill, can be turned into a great strength to motivate you towards your goals.

Affirmation to amend belief:
I am liberated from fear of failure
I embrace failure and am made stronger by it
I always push through failure and find a way to succeed

I don’t have enough time

Lao Tzu says, “Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time,’ is like saying, ‘I don’t want to.’” And it might be worth exploring that the success you are looking for in your business is something that you truly desire.  For when we really want something, we find the time and resources to make things happen.

Growing a business takes time, and building a sustainable business over 5 years old, we know from the stats, takes a great deal of time and persistence. Time pressure or being time poor, is not so much about time, but our relationship to it and our emotional state. Look for your first signs of stress when “I don’t have enough time” starts and take a moment to self-calibrate and shift to a more relaxed state, which will facilitate more time.

Affirmation to amend belief:
I have all the time that I require

I can’t put myself first

Just like when you watch the airplane safety demonstrations where you need to put on your oxygen masks before anyone else’s, as the business owner it is your duty to put yourself first.  This can often be seen as selfish, but you need to remember that it is okay to put yourself first as the business leader, whether for health and fitness, self development such as working with a coach or learning how to say no with grace to protect your work/ life blend.

Affirmation to amend belief:
My self-esteem is high because I honour who I am.
Every decision I make is the right one for me
