Finding the ideal candidate for not only the position but that fits in the business is hard.

Here at Cone, it is something that we have put a lot of thought into.

We want to share our top tips for hiring someone new!

Candidate Profiling

Much like ideal client profiling, it is essential to do an ideal employee profile.

You need to understand and know what kind of person you want, not just someone who can technically do the role.

So why is this?

Successfully recruiting is more than just finding someone to do a task.

It’s a Package Deal

If you know what kind of person you are looking for, then you will know what kind of benefits they are looking for.

It’s more than just money. It’s a lifestyle. It's growth.

Just as we do with our clients, here at Cone, we are always looking for ways we can improve our employee experience.

Here are some examples of what else we offer in addition to salary.

  • 1-1 coaching
  • Training
  • Extra holiday
  • Remote working
  • Workcations
  • Flexible working
  • Weekly check-ins
  • Monthly reviews
  • Team chat’s, monthly meetings
  • Pension contribution
  • Access to a portal which gives discounts off food, entertainment, and other supports

The point is, these things are important to people. So you need to know what kind of life and plans your candidate has. Remember it is a two-way street.

All rounded Interviews

People waste so much time on 3rd and 4th interviews. Without even getting to know the person.
We think you really need to balance the interview out. Remember this person is going to be part of your company. You need to know them on a level further than what GCSE’s they got.

Here are a few things that are included in our interviews:

The general interview questions that you would expect.
'Get to know you' forms. This is a fun form to get to know them and to help them relax. It’s a nervous time, and we find that this is an excellent way for them to feel at ease. We ask a range of questions including their favourite shop and how they like to spend their weekend.
We also ask them to do a task that would test their ability in whatever role they are going for.

We hope this has given you not only some insight into how we hire our team but also some inspo on how to approach your next hire! Remember it is not a 'one size fits all' kind of thing when it comes to hiring!
