When we saw the book, 'You Can Master Meditation', we were instantly attracted to the cover. Which read: 'Change your thinking. Change your life'.

This is something that we, here at Cone, firmly believe in.

Whether that is meditation, the law of attraction, or the Kon Mari Method. There is a lot to be said about the power of our thoughts.

Aside from the well-known benefits such as reduction in stress, improved concentration and memory there is another benefit of meditation that we would like to discuss.

The mind.

There are three levels of our mind. There is the unconscious part. Which is full of memories, fears, hope and dreams, all of which we are not aware of.

There is the conscious part, which are the things we ARE aware of.

And finally, the preconscious part which is things we can recall but are not on the surface of our thoughts on a daily basis.

Why it's important.

Our conscious mind can affect our preconscious and conscious thoughts.

Which means, although we are not aware of them, our unconscious thoughts can shape our decisions and ultimately our future life.

How meditation can help.

When we can quieten the noise of our conscious mind, we can become more aware and in-tune with our unconscious mind.

Meditation can help to do this.

Why would you want to?

Understanding and strengthening your communication with your unconscious mind is important for development.

It can help you understand your own thought process around your choices and can aid you to break through limiting beliefs.

This includes decisions around money mindset. Your relationship with money tends to stem back to your primary socialisation. Fundamentally how your parents think about money.

Not only that but understanding your unconscious thoughts can help discover hopes, fears (which could be limiting beliefs), likes, and wishes. Essentially the things in life that can determine how happy we are. And understanding them can lead to a happier and healthier life.

What next?

There are many apps out there, and although we have our favourites, they can sometimes be counterproductive.

We would recommend researching one meditation method and starting there. It is a journey, enjoy it!

Things to remember.

  • You do not need to be an expert in meditation to be able to meditate.

  • Mindfulness can be exercised almost anywhere.

  • And most importantly, do not put pressure on yourself. Mediation cannot be achieved in a constant state of worry. Acknowledge thoughts but do not actively try and push them away. Just let them come and go.
